Roy, MindTouch dev lead, provides an entertaining and thorough assessment of this release at the MindTouch blog. The gist: MindTouch Deki 1.8.3 Release Candidate 2 is available at SourceForge.net, download away. We're releasing this as an RC because MindTouch will have a skeleton crew over the holidays; so, we decided to hold off on the “official” release until after we all return. The last thing we want is for a critical bug to be reported, and nobody here to fix it! We plan on releasing 1.8.3 Final on January 4th at which time, all VMs will be upgradeable using our updateWiki.sh script.
Do not let the incremental release number fool you. This is a major upgrade which contains better enterprise support, improved performance (vetted live with our hugely popular Wik.is), more extensive configuration support, and more. Release notes, Download.
Steve posted an in-depth tutorial for extending MindTouch Deki. All programmers rejoice! It's now easier than ever.
Wow! Thanks to you MindTouch Deki made the Open Web Awards finals. If we're going to win this thing we need just a few more clicks from all of you immediately. Please? As you know I blogged about this award earlier and I updated the story at the MindTouch blog earlier this week when we made the finals. None of this matters though, if you like MindTouch Deki, please take a few seconds and follow these steps. Every vote counts and time is running out!
Thank you and happy holidays!
Sincerely,
Aaron Fulkerson
