San Diego, Calif., March 05, 2008 - MindTouch, developer of MindTouch Deki, the open source collaboration platform, announced a major update to MindTouch Deki that brings support for Microsoft Silverlight, Microsoft ADO.NET Data Services (code-named “Astoria”), and new Windows Live services to enterprise wiki users and mashup makers. Also, in time for MIX08, MindTouch introduced Wik.is (http://wik.is), a new free online-hosted offering of MindTouch Deki for enterprise teams, workgroups, and power users.
MindTouch has added an easy to use mashup code generator to MindTouch Deki that makes it point-and-click simple to create composite applications and data mashups by connecting services from Microsoft, Yahoo!, and other vendors with enterprise applications and databases. With the new support for Microsoft ADO.NET Data Services, users can embed and visualize data from any data source either online or behind their firewall, creating dynamic, real-time reports of critical business information.
Also new to MindTouch Deki is user presence and instant messaging, a staple of enterprise collaboration. Using Microsoft's new Windows Live Messenger library, MindTouch Deki mashups can take advantage of user presence and instant messaging to bring real-time collaboration around dynamic information to a new level. With the addition of support for Silverlight, MindTouch Deki users can create compelling new experiences right inside their wiki without requiring additional tools.
This suite of new features is available at MindTouch Wik.is, the hosted version of MindTouch Deki, which is open to the general public for the first time.
